TRADES UNION CONGRESS
3.30 P.M. EDITION
TARIFFS DISCUSSED.
(United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received September 10, 2.25 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 9. Discussing the Ottawa Conference of the new British tariffs, the Trades Union Congress at Nowcastle-on-Tyne overwhelmingly rejected a motion referring back the General Council’s report, which refused to express condemnation of the new tariffs in view of the short periods of their operation.
Mr AValter Citrine declared that, even under Socialism, they might find it desirable to regulate the fiscal relations.
The session of the congress was also notable for the declaration by Mr C. T. Cramp, that he believed that within two years the present industrial order would disappear. He said the situation would grow so serious in the coming months, industrially, financially and politically, that people In this and other countries, either peacefully or otherwise, would insist on a transformation.
