LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE

The annual conference of the Legion of Frontiersmen is being held to-day. Commandant Colonel Vickeridge in liis report said that no fewer than 100 new members had been admitted during the year. He also spoke of having had an interview with the Governor-General, who was taking a personal interest in the Legion. The formation of a unit in the South, lie sa.id, was discussed, and lie hoped before long that they would have a Legion well established there. Captain E. Desterre (Auckland) had asked him to accept liis resignation from the position of Commissioner and asked him to nominate Colonel Weston in his place. The work of Captain Desterre would live long after him as one of the founders of the Legion in New Zealand and the great service lie had rendered since. The annual report and balance-sheet was adopted.
