ITALIAN PILOT’S DEATH
LOSS OF SCHNEIDER CUP ’PLANE. Received August 5, 9.30 a.m. ROME, Aug. 4. It is now revealed that Flight Captain Monti, who was killed recently, was flying one of the two new Fiat machines, capable of 400 milps per hour, which were specially constructed for the Schneider Cup trophy. The machine is lying at a depth of 300 feet and salvage efforts have proved fruitless. Captain Monti, who participated in tho Schneider Cup contest in 1929, and who recently was engaged in higli-epeed tests, was killed while flying o. seaplane, which fell into Lake Garda. The body has not been recovered.
