All Catalonia is rejoicing following the announcement of the result of a plebiscite giving an overwhelming majority in favour of a draft statute of autonomy, which President Marcia will take to Madrid for presentation to the Cortes. An acrid debate on this move is inevitable, for the rest of Spain by no means approves of Catalonia’s aspirations.
