SCHMELING BEATS STRIBLING, AMERICAN OUTCLASSED. Max Schmeling, the German boxer, and Young Stribling the American, were matched yesterday in the United States, the German winning on a technical knock-out in the fifteenth round. Schmeling entered the ring weighing 1891bs, and Stribling at 186ilbs. According to a report, the German had a complete walk-over and won very easily. Stribling was badly knocked about, and the referee stopped the contest in the final round when there™ 1 were still 26 seconds to go. / Schmeling is very much like .Gene Tunncy in appearance, and when the latter retired irom the ring the heavyweight crown passed to the German. He fought Jack Sharkey—who is shortly to meet Mickey "Walker—for the title on June 12, 193 U, but Sharkey fouled his opponent after having the better of the contest, and was disqualified, and wept. On July 28 of last year at Wimbledon, Stribling, knocked out Phil Scott, the British boxer, in a little more than a round, settling for good the ambitions of the British heavyweight. Forty thousand people paid for admission and were disappointed.
