CLAY BIRD SHOOTING.

NEW ZEALAND CHAMPION. The winner of the New Zealand clay bird shooting championship at the New Zealand Gun Club Association’s annual fixture on Saturday last, Murray Pratt, of Otorohanga, has been an active competitor for many seasons. He was runner-up for the title in 1925, while he won the live bird championship last year. In his shooting last week he used his second barrel on only two occasions, the fifth and the twelfth, in 21 rounds.

E. Thornton, of Thames, who tied with Pratt at 21 birds, also slitit well, and used his second barrel only twice. In the shoot-off of five birds, Pratt gained the verdict by four birds to two.
