FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
LOYAL AIANAWATU LODGE. The Loyal Alanawatu Lodge, Manchester Unity. Independent Order of Oddfellows, held its regular fortnightly meeting on Thursday. N.G.. Bro. Lyon presiding over a large attendance. A letter of recommendation was received from Loyal Napier Lodge in favour of Bro.- Blair of that lodge, also one from Loyal Masterton Lodge in favour of Sister Preston. An invitation to its dance was received from Loyal Bulls Lodge. The arrangements for the conveyance of those wishing to attend were left in the hands of Bro. Bilks. A challenge for a game of carpet howls was received from the Acorn Lodge of Druids. One candidate was admitted into the order and oue proposed for membership. The sick visitors reported on visits to the sick of the order. Tlrcir reports were received with thanks. Bros. Shnrman and Fairer reported on a meeting of the Friendly Societies’ Council. Three visiting members were welcomed and suitably replied. The lodge closed .it 9.30 p.m. when all members enjoyed a tasty supper served by a capable supper room committee. Dancing. cnrjiet bowls and community singing concluded the evening. The winner of the Oddfellows’ competition was Mr S. J. Northcy.
