TAKARO CHURCH HALL.
ANNUAL REPORT. The report on the Takaro Church Hall to be presented to the annual meeting of parishioners is as follows: “Although this has been a most difficult year from the viewpoint of finance, it is pleasing to note that not only have we met all our liabilities, including £SO assessment to All Saints’ but wo have reduced the mortgage on the building by £2O as well. Comparing our revenue with that of last year, the decrease is under two headings, offertories and Ladies’ Guild. The first is explained by the fact that, whereas last year the committee canvassed the district for a speoial offertory; this year they did not feel disposed to do sp in view of the fact that all parishioners had given so liberally to the earthquake fund. The decrease under the other heading was occasioned by the poor support accorded the annual bazaar, which, of course, again reflects the financial conditions ruling this year. During the winter our energetic social committee again held quite a number of card tournaments and socials which proved a success both financially and socially. It will be noticed that the revenue from this source was much greater than last year. It is pleasing to know that the social sub-committee’s work was rewarded in this respect for they spent much valuable time and labour conducting these socials, for which we would like to record our appreciation. “Ladies’ Guild and Girls’ Club.— These institutions are as usual very active and loyally supporting the church for which we record our thanks. Sunday school: As this was the primary object for which the hall was built, it bas more than fulfilled its object. At the present time it is in a sound financial position as will be noticed from the financial statement. Sanctuary Guild: This body is performing very useful work and by its efforts has considerably augmented the church property. \Ve record with sincere regret the death during the year of one our most active workers, Mrs Bevin. The committee’s thanks are due to Mr A. Cooksley for the maintenance, of our Sunday School superintendent’s cycle, to Mr Preece for auditing the books, and to all those loyal workers who have assisted us during the year.
