AORANGI BRIDGE.

QUESTION OF LIGHTING. POWER BOARD’S ATTITUDE. An application was made to the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board today by the Feilding Borough Council for the provision free of cost’ of current for seven lights at the Aorangi Bridge, and failing that, inquired for the lowest price at which the board would supply current. The chairman (Mr J. A. Nash, M.P.) s.aid all vvould be glad to assist, but there was the danger of establishing a precedent for other local bodies if a reduction was granted, while free electricity was out of the question altogether. It was decided that the council should be informed that there was a fixed charge for all local bodies and the board regretted that it could make no /alteration.
