EARTHQUAKE IN VICTORIA.

ALARM IN INLAND TOWN. PEOPLE RUSH INTO STREET. Received April 18, 10.20 a.m MELBOURNE, April 18. Accompanied by a loud rumbling noise, a slight earthquake tremor was felt over a wide area of the north eastern portion of Victoria. There was a most severe shake at Benalla, about 100 miles from here, where chimneys collapsed. Business people rushed into the street in alarm, and goods were thrown off the shelves. Business was suspended for half an hour. Some places report having felt several tremors in the past few days.
