LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN.

ANNUAL AIEETING

The annual meeting of Alanawatu (“N.”) Squadron of the Legion of Frontiersmen was held on Saturday night, Captain U. H. Allen presiding. Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from Frontiersmen Hill, Patterson, Wearne and Morgan. Colonel C. H. Weston, Divisional Commandant, wrote congratulating the captain and the squadron on the progress it is making and sending Christmas greetings. He thanked Captain Allen for the work lie was doing for the legion. The statement of receipts and expenditure disclosed a credit balance of £3 12s lOd.

Commenting on the statement, Captain Allen said that, despite a large expenditure, the position was very satisfactory. He desired to extend his best thanks to all officers and he wished to particularly thank- Lieutenant Bangay, who was an excellent secretary, and Sergeant Louisson. An application for enrolment in the corps was received from Air L. Ireton, of Palmerston North. The matter was tabled until the next meeting. On behalf of Q.AI.S. Fraser, who was absent, Sergeant Louisson presented a book to the squadron. The donation was received with acclamation.

The squadron’s officers were re-elect-ed as follow: —Officer Commanding, Captain R. H. Allen; secretary and adjutant, Lieutenant F. G. Bangav; troop-sergeant, Frontiersman G. M. Louisson ; quartermaster, Frontiersman Fraser.

Captain Allen returned thanks for his re-election and wished the squadron a prosperous year. In reply to a question, the secretary stated that the strength of the squadron was 24 men.

The meeting decided that Captain Allen, Lieutenant Bangay and Sergeant Louisson inspect the roll with a view to purging it if necessary. Five names were removed as a result.

On tho motion of Captain Allen it was resolved to express the squadron’s appreciation of the use of the orderly room at the Defence Department’s barracks; also to members of the defence staff for delivering lectures. After the business had been dealt with the meeting resolved itself into a convivial gathering and a short toast list was proceeded with and votes of thanks were accorded Major Potter and Captain AlcGaskill for their very interesting lectures during the past year and to Sergeant-Major. Harvey for the valuable assistance given tho squadron. The opportunity . was taken to offer congratulations to Frontiersman and Airs Lewis, wlio were recently married, and to wish them every prosperity. Frontiersman Lewis suitably responded.
