FEILDING

PLUNKET SOCIETY. (Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, Aug. 28. At the request of the advisory committee a special general meeting of subscribers to the Feilding Plunket Society was held yesterday to consider the resignations of the president, treasurer and secretary. The Mayor (Mr C. E. Taylor) presided, and in an address to the gathering expressed pleasure that all matters had now been cleared up. The resignations of Mrs A. Sugden, Mrs J. Stalkor and Mrs H. G. Hall were then considered, the first two agreeing to withdraw their resignations at the unanimous wish of the meeting, while Mrs Hall intimated that she did not desire office. Mrs V. J. Stitchbury was accordingly elected secretary, with Mrs Sugden president and Mrs Stalker treasurer. Eulogistic reference was made to the long and valued services Mrs Stalker had rendered to the society during the time she was secretary and it was decided to place on record the society’s appreciation of her work. MAGISTRATE’S COURT. Mr R. M. Watson, S.M., presided over yesterday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court. CIVIL LIST. Judgment by default was granted plaintiff in the following undefended civil cases:—D. Young v. B. Brown, £1 14s 4d, costs £1 9s 6d; Harvey and Son v. Waapu Toni, £1 2s 2d, costs 15s. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. F. Rink was ordered to pay W. H. Bain and Coy., Ltd., the sum of £8 19s Id and costs forthwith, in default 10 days’ imprisonment, warrant to be suspended on (lie payment of. £1 per month.
