(By Russell Owen, copyright 1928 by the New York Times Company and the St. Louis Post Dispatch; all rights for publication reserved throughout the world. Wireless to the New York Times.) Received August 28, 10.10 a.m. BAY OF WHALES, Aug. 26. Commander Byrd sent the following message to Dr Eckener, the commander of the Graf Zeppelin:—“We watched the trip across Siberia most anxiously, for everyone knew that this was the most difficult part of the journey. “The broadcasting from Los Angeles was picked up and for hours here the men lay in their bunks and listened to the descriptions of the crowds and the motorcars filling the roads round the field. They almost imagined themselves back home.

“Then came word that the ship had been sighted and was waiting for daylight to land.”-
