FINAL STAGE OF CRUISE. AIRSHIP EN ROUTE TO LAKEHURST. (Australian Press Association —United Service.) Received August 28, 9.5 a.m. LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2/. The Graf Zeppelin started at 12.14 o’clock on Tuesday morning for Lakeburst, New Jersey—the final stage of the world cruise. The Zeppelin was last reported over Arizona. The weather was then favourable. INTEREST AT BAY OF WHALES. COMMANDER BYRD’S MESSAGE. Received August 28, 10.10 a.m. BAY OF WHALES, Aug. 26. Commander Byrd sent the following message to Dr Eckener, the commander of the Graf Zeppelin:—“We watched the trip across Siberia most anxiously, for everyone knew that this was the most difficult part of the journey. “The broadcasting from Los Angeles was picked up and for hours here the men lay in their bunks and listened to the descriptions of the crowds and the motorcars filling the roads round the field. They almost imagined themselves back home.
“Then came word that the ship had been sighted and was waiting for daylight to land.”-
