MANAWATU SUB-CENTRE
A meeting of tlie executive of the Manawatu Sub-Centre of the Itoyal Life Saving Society was held last evening, Mr \V. C. Collier presiding over a good attendance. The chairman stated that he had learnt privately that there was a chance of the next New Zealand surf championships being held on district beaches. The secretary (Mr It. E. Small) forwarded a summary of awards made during the year which was as follows: Y.M.C.A.: Elementary 8; proficiency, 8; bronze medallions, 7; instructor, 1; awards of merit, 4; total 28. Palmerston North Boys High School: 21; 14; 11; —; 5; total, 51. Palmerston North Technical School: 16,'20; 14; —; 2; total, 52. Feilding Agricultural High School: 6, 3 ; —; —; —; total, 9. Palmerston North Girl Guides : 5 ; 5; 5; 1; —; total, 16. Feilding Girl Guides: 2; 2; 2; —; —; total, 6. Central School: 12; 12; 3; 1; —; total, 28. College Street School: 9; 10; —; —; —; totals, 19. Terraco End School: 3; —; —; —; —; total, 3. Totals: 82; 74;, 42; 3; 11; grand total, 212. The report and balance-eheet were approved of and will be submitted at the annual meeting.
