The Rangitikei representatives who met Bush Union in a challenge for the Bebbington Shield at Pahiatua yosterday describe the ground as the worst they have every played on —and Marton Park takes a lot of beating this season. A motor car driven by a Wanganui salesman ran into a stationary gig in Broadway, Marton, yesterday, and both vehicles were considerably damaged. The driver of the car had protected himself against the rain with a large piece of brown paper and when proceeding along the street this was blown up over him and he swerved with the result stated. There was no other traffic about at the time and the gig was horseless. Your correspondent was informed by a prominent associate of tho -Reform Party in Rangitikei that the party is at present concerned with the sorting out of a likely candidate to contest the seat at the next election, whenever that comes. It is understood that Mr W. S. Glenn, who was defeated at the last election after representing the seat for nine years, has no desire to again offer his services here. Eight lambs in a paddock on the Raukura Estate, near Taihape, were worried to death a few nights ago, tho loss being estimated at about £lO. Fortunately, the dogs responsible did not extend their ferocious attention to an adjoining paddock in which were a largo number of valuable stud sheep. Two teams of football and basket ball teams from Taihape District High School visited Ohakune. The basket ball team lost by four points .to nil, and the football match was drawn 3 points each.
