END OF SEASON APPROACHING. ; With a further challenge in the Hawke Cup series to face—Nelson on this occasion being the visitors —and the last game in the senior championship to be finalised tomorrow at the Sportsground, the close of the 1928-29 cricket season is heralded. However, enthusiasts of the summer sport should bo offered two attractive games tomorrow when R.S.A. will strive to overtake the lead of two points held by Palmerston, while Old Boys and High School will fight to avoid the doubtful honour of being '‘wooden sxjoon” holders. Last Saturday was productive of two surprises—the great recovery of Palmerston after being in a far from promising position, and the substantial total returned by High School—and the opposing elevens are facod with no easy tasks to secure the all valuable championship points. With the junior competition finalised — Rongotea following up their success of last year by again emerging at the head of the table—to-morrow will be occupied in the playing of a gamo, Champions v The Rest. A strong combination has been chosen to oppose tho champions and an interesting game is promised. JUNIOR MATCH. A match will be played to-morrow between Rongotea ; the winners of the junior championship, and a team picked from the other clubs. Tho latter team will be as follows: —McLaren and McKay (P. and T.), Wakelin and Jewett (R.S.A.), Salmon and Scorgie (All Saints’), Hill (P.W.D.), Smale (P.W.D., captain), Spring. GAME WITH WEST AUSTRALIA. PERTH, March 21. The last engagement of. 'the English cricketers started to-day in ideal weather with a match against West Australia, whose team included Ryder, Australia’s Test captain, and Grimmest, Darling and Ellis, of the Eastern States, vlio were invited to play against England, as West Australia has only a bare eleven available. The attendance was five thousand. West Australia won the toss."’ The Englishmen showed the effects of itheir tour and long journey.
