WELLINGTON LOANS AND ROLLS. (By Telegraph—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, March 21. Advertisements on tramcars and in the newspapers have failed to tempt Wellington citizens to take an .active interest in some important phases of civic procedure. There are loans in prospect totalling well over £200,000, and in conformity with the statute the City Council recently advertised that persons who wished to register objections to the several loan proposals might peruse copies of particulars at the town clerk’s office at the tP'va hall. No one called. For weeks 1 pay; the citizens have been notified in one way or another than the time for enrolment on the city rolls is running out, but callers have been few and far between. The city officials in their latest warning state that they prefer steady enrolments to a final frenzied rush, but in using the last phrase they are evidently ironical.
