SALE OF MACHINE.

WELLINGTON, Nov. 6. Mrs M. Young, the Wellington Central Parliamentary candidate, was today the defendant in a civil action brought by a sewing machine company in respect to a machine sold to defendant on time payment in 1924 and on which £8 10s was alleged to be still due. The plaintiff company says That a machine was bought on terms in 1923 at £23 and was exchanged for one at £37. ! • , The defence says that the sum was £27. There is a suggestion by the defence that a deposit or £5 was paid to the agent who made the original deal, but this is denied emphatically, the agent saying that if Mrs Young says that, she would be committing perjury. There is also a suggestion that there was misreuresentation os to the machine being a hemstitching one. This is also denied as a hemstitching attachment was supplied later. The case has not been concluded.
