GOLD NIGHT.
METEOROLOGIST’S FORECAST. The Government meteorologist telegraphed to-day : The indications are tor variable and moderate breezes, easterly to northerly prevailing. There is a prospect of fair weather, but the night will probably be very cold, with frosts inland. The barometer shows little movement. RAINFALL IN AUGUST. The rainfall in August as recorded by Mr P. C. Toms at Tiritea was as follows: —August 4th ,02in., 6th .04in., 7th ,12in., Bth .35in., 10th .33in., 11th .18in., 12th .06in., 13th .10in., 14th .02m., 16th .10in., 18th 1.28 in., 19th .72in., 20th ,04in., 21st ,08in., 22nd .06in., 23rd .08in., 24th .22in., 25th .04in., 26th .02in., 27th ' .Olin., 28th .Olin., 29th ,05in., 30th .04in., 31st .42in.; total, 4.39 in. Rain fell on 24 days, tho maximum being 1.28 in. on the 18th.
