A conference b'etween the union and the sugar mill representatives will consider tiie board of trade proposals for settlement to-day. In the meantime, many railwaymen are signing the re-employment form issued by the Railway Commission. There is a possibility that a partial service will be instituted on Monday. A manifesto urging the railwaymen not to accept re-employment has' been issued individually by the Australian Workers’, Railways and Engineering Unions.
The Engine-drivers’, Firemen’s and Shunters’ and Guards’ Unions have not joined in this manifesto. Arrangements have been made for tho delivery of mails by motor transport. There has been a general exodus of people returning to their homes before the railways cease. Many people are also returning to Brisbane in a hurry.
