FEILDING NEWS
OLD PUPILS’ ASSOCIATION.
(Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, July 27. The annual report of the Feilding Agricultural High School’s Old Pupils’ Association states, inter alia: —Our roll contains just on 100 financial members and nothing would please the' officers more than to see every one of the 250 old pupils join up. In sport the Old Girls’ Hockey Club, although not as successful as last year, has had many enjoyable games in the local association’s competition. The change of half-holiday seriously affected the team in this competition. The club was runner-up to Hutt Valley in the June 3rd tournament and in the seven-a-side Association Rose Bowl tournament was beaten by Hinekoa. Old Boys’ Cricket Club annexed - the senior competition and. Guthrie Shield and the Bartholomew Memorial Cup for the highest average. Football has occupied the attention’ of most old pupils and it is pleasing to know of the successful performance of Old Boys in their first year of senior grade. A third grade team has also engaged in the competitions with much success under the coaching of Mr Tankersley. To date, J. Dewe, N. Bramwell, M. Waldin, L. Penney and W. J. Cochrane have found places in representative teams. The association’s other organisations include an Educational Social Club which has arranged numerous little evenings at various places. Its efforts, somewhat restricted this year, will be extended next year. There is also a hospital visiting committee. The association’s annual prize was won by Margaret Shortall. HOCKEY ASSOCIATION.
