TROTTING NOTES

After the Hastings meeting R. Vautier journeyed to Gisborne with Van Rich, Blue Glen, Marion, Junr., and Some Jazz, but the best they could do was to run two thirds, Van Rich and Blue Glen filling those positions. Roy Tapp, who has been connected with Mr Vautier’s stables for some time as head lad, rode Mr R. Fisher’s representative when he won the last race at Gisborne. A lot of interesting work is now being done on the local training track at Boundary Road in preparation for the Manawatu and Taranaki meetings. Audnbon Patch is being indulged in long slow work and is looking very well. Ho does not appear to be so erratic on the track as ho was last season. During Mr J. Clarke’s illness, Audubon Patch has been worked by H. Russell, who was in charge of Great Bingen when the champion went to Perth last year for the Champion Stakes. Indicator is getting through very serviceable tasks and is moving very freely in his work. H. Russell will have charge of the Rothschild horse until after the Manawatu meeting. R. L. Kenrns has taken up his residence at Ashhurst and has two horses in work at present. Brian Bingen and Vallamont, under the care of Carl Oliver, are reported to he doing good work on the Ashhurst track. Mr J. A. Mitchell’s Bicolour, Billy Sea and Loch Moigh are working on their owner’s privato track at Longburn.

Van Mac looks an improved horse since his race at Hastings and he should get on the winning list shortiy. A win for Sam Bambery would bo as popular as Dave Munro’s win with Novar was in the Manawatu Cup at Christmas.

Zo McKinney, in charge of Geo. Caddy, looks in good health, but moves a bit scratchily until warmed up. Old Warlock looks younger than ever and is doing nicely in his work. Lady Zoe, in charge of Bert Woodfield, is hitting out in great style and is looking really well.
