POWER BOARD BALANCESHEETS.
QUESTION OF PUBLICATION. “I think that the conference should express an opinion on the question of the expense of printing and publishing of balance-sheets and statement of accounts for distribution. There is nothing in our Act requiring that a balancesheet shall be made available for distribution and it is a question whether very much outside interest is ever taken in balance-sheets in any case. Perhaps we could agree upon the adoption of a„ summarised statement in a statistical and simple form which we could exchange with each other and which would give all the information necessary to show how the respective boards are progressing. Of course, any ratepayer can obtain tho fullest information on inquiry at the office of any board.” These remarks were made by Mr C. Campbell, of Invercargill, in the course of his presidential address to the conference of power board secretaries and executive officers this morning.
