The coastal steamship owners cot* tinned their conference with representatives of the transport group to-day in an endeavour to settle the strike, but after considering at length the dispute tho owners announced that unless a new body could be formed with leaders different from the present Seamen’s Union regretted that a settlement eouid not be reached.—Press Association.
