CRICKET CONTROL.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

MEETS,

A meeting of the Management Committee of the Manawatu Cricket Association was held last evening ..when there were present: Messrs F. J. Oakley (in the chair), J. A. Smith, J. H. Silson and G. K. Hollier.

The Napier Technical Old Boys’ Cricket Club wrote enquiring whether it would be possible to arrange a match at Palmerston North at Easter, either senior or junior.—The secretary reported that he had made enquiries into the matter and had found it possible to raise a team. He had replied to that effect and April 5 and 6 had been accepted as the dates for the match.— Agreed to, the hour of the commencement of the game being set down at 10.30 each day. A telegram was received from the Wairarapa Association to the effect that it had been found impossible to travel to Palmerston North at Easter and the fixture with Manawatu would have to be postponed.—Received. The hon secretary Itongotea Cricket Club wrote forwarding the names of F. Wright, J. Blenkinsop and L. Goldfinch as being available to participate in local games on Friday, Saturday and Monday of Easter and tho three aforementioned together with,E. J. Arnott, on Saturday and Monday. —Received.

Tho town clerk wrote requesting payment of the rent due to the Borough Council for the use of the Sportsground during the summer months.— The chairman mentioned that one payment of £25 had been due on December 31, but the association had not, at the time, been in a position to make the payment. The full amount of £SO had now been paid. —It was decided to write expressing regret at the inability to mako payment of the first instalment on December 31 owing to the fact that tho ground fees payable to the association, which were the sole revenue of tho association towards meeting the council’s fees, lmd not been paid by the clubs. A copy of a letter forwarded by the New Zealand Council to the Feilding Association was tabled wherein it was stated that in connection with the application of tho Feilding Association for direct affiliation with the New Zealand Council, the position had been reconsidered and the same decision that such was inadvisable had been again arrived at. One reason for such action was the close proximity of Feilding to Palmerston North, together with the fact that the Manawatu Association had opposed the application and had expressed its desire to further and foster the game in the Feilding district.—Received. It was reported that Mr R. S. Abraham had kindly donated a cricket bat to be awarded io the best young player.—A vote of appreciation was extended to Mr Abraham. It was decided, in view of the advanced stage of the season, not to progress further with the mid-week series, the Albion Club being thus declared the winners, they having 18 championship points from six matches standing to their credit. Railway, who gained 16 points from, six matches, fill tjie role of runners-up..
