DAIRY FARMERS’ CONFERENCE.

PROCEDURE DRAWN UP

Dairy factories have now received a circular from the Dairy Produce Control Board outlining the procedure to be followed at the big conference of dairy farmers to be held at Wellington on April 28. Mr W. Grounds will preside. The circular (inter alia) is as follows:

The conference is primarily called to discuss the method of electing the Dairy Board for the purpose of making a recommendation to tho Government. It will be held in the Concert Chamber, Town Hall. Cuba street, Wellington, on Wednesday, April 28, 1926, at 10 a.lll.

Each dairy company, whether cooperative or proprietary, is entitled to be represented either by an individual or by proxy. Each company will require to forward to the offico of tho board, not later than April 23, 1926, a form of authority, duly completed and signed either by the chairman or secretary, setting out the name of cho person entitled to vote for tho company. Unless this form of authority is forwarded to the office of tho board, the dairy company will Jose its right to vote. , The board lias decided to adopt as a basis of voting the decisioi of a conference held in Wellington on May lb. 1922. The conference wi k the most representative conference oc the industry ever held in New Zea’iind. After prolonged consideration of the position it decided tho following voting basis: “Dairy companies to have one vote for every 100 tons of butter up to 500 tons, and one additional veto for every 150 tons of butter or portion thereof. Two tons of cheese to lb taken as equal to one ton of butte }” Tho export figures of Jthe Dairy Division for the year end'd April 30, 1925, will be taken for computing the votes of each company. Votes on all resolutions twill bo decided by calling the roll : lid allowing properly appointed delegates to vote “for” or “against” tho The board is of the minion that only delegates entitled to [vote should be' actually present at Ije meeting.
