CANTON BOYCOTT.
EFFORT FOR SETTLEMENT. OUTLOOK MORE HOPEFUL. HONG KONG. March 22. The Governor, ' addressing the Chamber of Commerce, announced that tho Canton Government was now prepared to appoint three members to negotiate with three Hon Kong officials for a settlement of the boycott. The Governor agreed with the proposal and hoped the negotiations would lead to an honourable and lasting settlement. He added that- it seemed the commonsonse of tho Cantonese people was at last beating down Communism and establishing law and order. He regarded the outlook as more hopeful than at any time since June. —A. and N.Z. cable.
