HEAVY RAIN.
DELUGE IN THE SOUTHjim;/ Per Press Association. OAM AK U, July 15. Rain which started on Monday morning developed into a Heavy downpour last night, amounting in some piaoes to a deluge, the \\ aireka Valley in particular. At Elcierslie the water is reported to be three feet deep on some parts of the road. The Kakanui river is in high tlcod. Parts of the roads from Maheno to ixakanui and Kuriheka are under water. No damage has been reported bo tar. It is still raining lightly. FARMERS SUFFER LOSSES. CHRISTCHURCH, July 15. Rain set in steadily last mgnt and continues over North Canterbury, causing neavy loss to the lanners. Early la fulling is suffering severely. Thougn troui me south-east, the rain is semiUopically warm. METEOROLOGIST’S REPORT. COLD AND SHOWERY. The Government Meteorologist wir-ed'to-day: The indications are for variable strong brezes, strong to gale prevailing at times. The weather will probaoly prove cold and showery. The uaronietor is unsteady.
