UNIVERSITY COMMISSION.

COMMERCIAL EDUCATION. Pnr Pr*** Association. , CHRISTCHURCH. July 13. At the university commission this morning representatives of the Canterbury Chain her of Commerce submitted suggestions as to methods by which the university colleges may send out a fair proper tion of men and women bettor equipped to take an important- part in tile development of commerce and industries that contribute largely to the Dominion’s wealth. One witness stated that sufficient advantage was not taken of consultation with representatives of commerce and industry. It was easy to map out courses of study that just missed being of practical use for want of a little practical knowledge.. The chamber felt that specialised university courses of (say) two years in certain subjects, taking students of from (say) 18 years to 20 years, would be very valuable.
