ENTERTAINMENTS.

" MOTHER MAC 11 REE.” Coming to Palmerston North on Saturday next is Denis Krhoo and his complete company in Alauric. • > ehlon’s successful Irish folk drama, -Mother Alachrce,” wiiich recently won most favourable comment. from the Auckland press. This young actor-singer is now presenting ; “Mother Machree” for the eighth year, and finds a remarkable following who have seen it in several different localities. It is a play based on the age-old theme lot mother-love, vibrant with human in- ! tercst, yet instinct with the oft-time rollicking humour so closely allied to deep sentiment. Music has been added to spice the dish, and the spice is 'the melody of Erin 'sung by Denis Kehoe to the accompaniment of his little hand harp, lie i is. though a young man, deeply experienced in stagecraft, and left school to enter into the east of Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s "School for Scandal,” playing the part of Sir Harry and singing “Here’s to the Maid of Bashful Fifteen.” Following that, he helped perfect'his technique by extensive Shakespearean work. He is supported by a clever company, rich in dramatic ability and humour. The plan for “Mother Machree” opens at Oates’s to-morrow morning. “THE CREATION.” Great interest is being shown in tomorrow's performance of Haydn's famous oratorio, “Tho Creation,” by the Paimcw ston North' Choral Society assisted by a specially strong orchestra and by the Orpheus Society. A glance at the person, ne! of the orchestra led by Air C. Motvlem will convince all that the musicians of the town have united to make the production an outstanding one in the history of Palmerston North. The artists, Madanto Amy Woodward, Air Arthur Ripley and Air William Watters, can be depended upon to interpret Haydn's wonderful music artistically. In fact, those artists have gained a Dominion reputation for their work in tihs oratorio. Air J. Holmes Ruuniclos has -he choir well prepared. Haydn’s superb music, therefore, will be presented in all its beauty. The booking has been heavy und a full house is assured. However, a few seats are still available at the booking office at Messrs G. H. Bennett und Co., Ltd.
