Received May 20, 9.55 o.m. MELBOURNE, May 20. Concerning the death of John Henry Dodds, tho bullets which caused his death have been handed to an arms expert to ascertain if they might have been fired from' the revolver handed to the police by O’Shea. It is alleged that O’Shea stated that he fired into the air. The bullet entered Dodd’s skull on the right side whereas O'Shea was on his left. —Press Association.
As the result of a disturbance outside the United States Hotel, Carlton, John Ilenry Dodds, aged 42, died from a bullet wound in the head. Jack Maxwell 0 Shea, the licensee, was arrested on a charge of murder.' According to a stat< ment by O’Shea, he and another man heard sounds of men attempting to break a :mck gate. They saw one man climbing the- gate and (he others assisting. O’Shea fned a shot from- a revolver, intending to frighten them, but the man on the gate fell off. The men scattered when the police arrived and escaped.
