POLITICAL SITUATION.
MB F. J. ROLLESTON’S OPINION. ANOTHER ELECTION ADVOCATED. Per Press Association. TIMARU, May 19. On. being interviewed on the political situation Air F. J. Rolleston. M.P. for Timuru, said the work to be dono by the peope’s representatives in Parliament was too serious and important to justify a continuance of old petty squabbles and party warfire. Unfortunately, in our present syste n. of polities, party and personal interest were in danger of running counter to the best interests of the country. In Parliament, as at present constituted, he coulc see no hope of any coalition between the parties. Hie only thing that would clear the air would bo another election, at whici it was to be hoped electors might have a chance of saying whether they preferred the interests of the country put before those of any party. As to the next session, it was impossible to make any forecast. The ordinary unoontentious business of Parliament could be made to last for three months, and it was possible that members would prefer to let the session run on under the guidance of tie new Prime Minister until at least the winter was over. No one, least of all those representing large and scattered constituencies, would wish for an election in the depth of winter.
