BIBLE SOCIETY.
RONGOTEA BRANCH. The Rongoten branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society decided to hold their annual meeting in March instead of October ns formerly. For that purpose Mrs Florence Porte;- (hon. secretary) visited Rongoten on Friday when tho meeting was held in tho Methodist Chapel. There was a good attendance and all were enthusiastic, which augurs well for sustaining or even surpassing the record of 1924. The president (Mr Matheson) presided and introduced Mrs Porter in a happy arid appreciative little speech. Mrs Porter outlined tho wonderful growth of the work in New Zealand, mentioning the departure of Rev. A. Thompson for Australia, and the appointment of Rev. David Calder to take his place. The work ahead was spoken of, the closed lands where the of contrast scenes in lands where the people nrs hungering for the Scriptures were depicted, and the delight expressed when they get tho Scripture for the first time in their own mother tongue. The following officers were elected: Mrs Matheson, president; Mesdarnes Carter, Glover and Tremaine, vice-presidents; Miss A. Hunt, secretary ; Mr R. M. Matheson, treasurer; Mrs Amies, literature secretary. The following committee was elected: Mesdarnes Mathieson, Carter, Glover. J. Glover, Smitte, Gould and Print, Misses Davison, Hunt, Sanson, and Stella Mathoson.
Hearty votes of thanks were accorded the officers, colleotors and committee for thAlr iDlendid work last year.
