SUBSIDES OPPOSED.
Received June 13. 11.20 a.m. SYDXKY, June 13. Sir T. Henley, Minister of Railways, referring to the railway commissioners' statement to the effect that there would bo no reduction in railway fares and freights unless the railways were subsidised, expressed hostility to subsidies as a bad precedent, fie said it would also prevent economy being achieved if the railways were not compelled, to bo financed out of revenue.—Press Association.
