PUBLIC CONTROL FAILS.
CONAN DOYLE’S OPINION.
LONDON. April 4. Sir A. C'onan Doyle, when interviewed on his Australian experiences, said the public control was a coiuplete failure ip Australia, and the telephone, telegraph, railway and post otlico services were very bad. This was not duo to national slackness,' because the few things remaining in private hands were extremely good. Ihe real reason was that employees AVere able to apply. pressure to the La.bour Governments if tbo latter disagree with their demands. All those labour problems were rather dangerous there. Sir Conan Doyle added that the spiritualist movement was vigorous among the poorer classes, though not among professional classes.—A. ahd N.Z. cable.
