HORRIBLE SUFFERINGS OF U-BOAT VICTIMS.
TWICE torpedoed
Received Juno 1, 9.15 a.m. LONDON, May 31. Before the Alnwick Castle was torpedoed on March 19th, she. picked up the crow of the torpedoed steamer Trevos, whose sufferings for nine days, iu bitter cold aro narrated in the. engineer’s diary. The third day the chief cook died from exposure, and the'storekeeper went mad. The fourth day the boatswain and g passenger died, and on the fifth three more died. On the sixth a cattleman jumped overboard and was drowned, on the seventh two died from thirst and exposure, and on the ninth another died. 1 The survivors on being landed were found to bo suffering terribly from frostbite in tho feet, toes dropping off. On© succumbed, i A baby which was saved by the sacrifices of. the others subsequently died of meningitis.
