ACTION IN THE DESERT.
CAMEL CORPS HARRIES SMALL BODY OF TURKS. The Premie* has received the following from the High Commissioner, London, dated May 1 : It is reported officially at Cairo that on ; Wednesday a patrol of the Bikanir Camel Corps, under Major Kawlm>, encountered twelve miies east of the canal, 500 of the enemy, who retired alter a few shots were exchanged. The same night a small mixed force was sent from Umalia to endeavour to surprise the enemy's camp. The enemj had moved during tie; night towards Fcrdan. Finding cur posts on the alert, they retired to IJir Mahadt. They were located again at dawn by our aeroplanes, and about midday cur cavalry succeeded in coming tip with the rearguard, harassing their retreat, ■■ and taking a few prisoners.
