Manawatu Races.

First Dny.

After an almost; uninterrupted spell of fine weather for six weeks past: ft drizzling rain set in last night and continued tnis morning, Towardsmid-aay, however, tli.o ram abated and the outlook brightened. The result was that the attendance was remarkably good: under the circumstances, the trains? being well filled. The rain, on again later in the afternoon, made the course very heavy. This is the first occasion on which the club has experienced adverse weather conditions since it lias been racing at the new coarse. With the exception of Foxton and Levin the Manawatu Club has experienced the same treatment climatically that other clubs on the coast have had to put up with during the present season, it that is any consolation.
