Thoroughbred Horse Sale.
Some Interesting Details.
On Friday next Abraham and.Williams, Ltd., in conjunction with the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, will hold their annual thoroughbred horse sale, the first lot being put up at 10.30 a.m. at the former company's yards. The annual Palmerston sales have already earned a reputation as a place where one or two good horses can be picked up at cheap prices, present racing records tarnishing more than one instance of animals beyond the ordinary that have been purchased at these sales, as for instance St. Albert, Jeanne D'Arc, Tupono, Glenulhn and others of similar class. The principal lots to be offered on Friday comprise several )*oarlings on behalf of Mr W. F. Mußeth, nearly all of them bred by the Sylvia Park Company, Auckland, and therefore of undoubted racing lineage. Included among the youngsters is a beautifully grown bay filly bv San Fran from CLiarentc, dam of .Nonette, and therefore half sister to that well [ performed horse. Three yearhngs by Explosion should also find ready sale, as well as a filly by the black champion Advance from Bingdove. The whole of the animals to be sold on behalf of Mr Mcßeth are well grown and m good condition. They may be seen op application to the auctioneers, Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., or the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. . A couple of jumpers will bo oilered on behalf of General Babingfcon in John Peel and Hydroscope. The former has several eveats to his credit between the flags and over sticks, but the latter is stiii a maiden. Both are in hard condition. ' The racers Mussel and Pomegranate vill be offered on behalf of Mr Aeheson}ray, who is going to England. Aiustel is a well known horse and needs no mlogy, but it is just a3 well to remind jrobable buyers that in addition to ,vinning raises iat Manawatu and Ashiurst irii December, Mussel conies from i great jumping family and possesses ibo family characteristic to a marked legree. . . Mr W. L. Siddells will also offer lus irell known brood mare Cremorne with young stock from her. A 3-year-old mare, Millenial, by Apremont (imp.) from Millenium (imp.), a daughter of the expatriated Carbine, who is now at the services of breeders in England at a big figure, should, even if she never raced a yard, be an acquisition to any
breeding establishment. Her darn* Millenium, is from Taihoa, ft Victorian bred mare by Malua, a Melbourne Cup ami Grand National winner, in addition to numerous other big events, while it is Eikin to gilding the lily to refer to Carbine's great deeds, which are known to all sporting menMr H. 0. Mellsop will offer his colt " Buoyant" from "Marvellous, the mare that is well known to racing men on this coast. The colt has classic engagements and is highly spoken of. He is in hard condition and quite ready for work. A couple of Auckland bred yearlings will be offered on account of Mr M. Heads, by Blue Jacket—Jennie and Hotchkiss—Coalscuttle, and Mr G. "W. MoKenaie will sell a filly by ban Fran from Waikato, foaled in October, WO.*. . . . ■ Another of the horses in training to be sold is Arclight (Merriwee—Dazzle), a well-performed filly and one that on breeding lines should furnish into a valuable brood mare. A number of other horses will be offered on account of several well-known owners.
