AUCKLAND, This day. Catherine Louisa Martin was arrested yesterday on a warrant and charged today with having, while an undischarged bankrupt, disposed of her business and absconded with the proceeds without making arrangements with her credi-

tors. Accused was remanded for eight days by the Stipendiary Magistrate as she has to undergo an operation in Auckland.

HASTINGS, This day. There is every prospect of good weather for the autumnshow to-morrow. Judging is being proceeded with in all classes of produce. The live stock will be judged to-morrow.

OAMARU, This day. The Municipal Assessment Court is now sitting. Several objections were made by the hotels which lose their licenses after June 30th. In every case a big reduction-was made by Magistrate Keddell in the Corporation's valuations. One was from £208 to £110 and another from £134 to £80, and others in proportion.

NAPIER, This day. Out of 103 applications, the Education Board appointed Mr George Crawshaw, assistant Secretary to the South. Canterbury Board, to the position of Secretary and Treasurer to the Jrlawkes Bay Board.
