An Historical Battle.

CHBISTCHUBCH, Oct. 21. Trafalgar Day was observed by the hoisting of flags on all the principal buildings and schools, and the pupils at many of the larger schools were addressed on the meaning of the day. INYEBCABGILL, October 21. ,
Trafalgar Day was marked in this district by the' hoisting of the union jack in town and at the country schools. In default of artillery there ,was a thunderstorm at midday. This'eyenmg the branch, of the Navy League honoured the occasion by a concert, at which speeches in regard to the great naval battle were made.
NELSON, October 21
A large public gathering was held tonight in honour of Trafalgar Day, when patriotic speeches, songs, and recitations were given. It was resolved to ask the Mayor to call a meeting to arrange for a celebration of the. centenary of tbe battle, and that an .industrial exhibition be held in connection therewith.
