In Favour of Chamberlain's

Policy.

(Per Press Association).

(By Electric Telegraph— Copyright). (Received Oct. 22, at 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 21. Mr Dyson, general secretary of the amalgamated papermakers, and members of various trade societies, have addressed a letter to Mr Watson answering Mr R. Bell's and the Labor Representation Committee's communications now proving that the workers inthe Motherland were not really consulted hitherto, but there is a.strong current among trade unionists in favour of Mr Chamberlain's policy. . I'-..: ; .

Note.—Mr Richard Bell, a member of the House of Commons, and chairman of the Leeds Trades-Union Congress, recently cabled to Mr Watson, late Premier of Australia, appealing to the workers in Australia to respect the feelings of their British comrades who had, it was alleged, -unanimously declared against any system of preference. Subsequently the Labour Representation Committee wrote to Mr Watson hoping Australian labour would not support a policy which organised labour, in the Motherland considered surrounded with most malign influences which were, it -was stated sure .to bring strife where there was now harmony. Australian preference -was/described as ftlusbry sihce^tretamed a monopoly of- its own. If its '•/• markets were opened/freely to British imports then there: would be some show of .reason and justice in the campaign to force Britishers to benefit the Australians. by: submitting to a hi°h cost ofliviho. ..'."' ° Received OntoW99 nt in qfto m f ecelved °ctob^^J^J?'? am -_.-t.xi_.
