The Smolensk and, Saint Petersburg, are retiring from Suez, ,being advised that a Japanese cruiser is approaching. The Saint Petersburg captain has been promoted.
Router's Suez correspondent says tho Eussian Consul supplies German steamers with a pass covering the Red Sea in'the event of encounteringl Russian cruisers." :
The St. "Petersburg correspondent of the newspaper Echo do Paris states officially- that the Russian Foreign Office declares that a steamer is pursuing the Smoiensik and Saint Pctensbiirg with an order- •to them to stop searching, aud directing, them to merely police the In-' dian ocean without the right of capture.
