We have to acknowledge receipt from th* conrteous Secretary, Mr T. R. Walton of a press ticket of admission to the ap--1 proaahing race-meeting m Palnieraton. We remind our readers that the outward English mail via 'Frisco will cloae at Palmerston to-morrow evening at 7 ;45 p. m. Farther entries have been made to Messrs Stevens and Gortbn'a-oatologue for their next slock Bale at the Borough Yards. . '.. ■ Mr Linton is steadly improving, and it is hoped he will return to business by Monday next, or possibly earlier. To-morrow is the day of Dr CarYq •professional visit to T*almerstdn. It iasaid that there wh« eotue very hard : swearing heard m the Court to-day, nhd many who were present were simply astounded at the difficulty experienced m extracting evidence, and the frequent attempts made to prevaricate, which after all only made matters worse for all parties. The weather was again exceedingly boisterous tonday, the wind blowing m 1 stormy gusts, and raising clouds of dust, i notwithstanding the recent heavy rains. It does not appear as if there was to be any summer before Christmas. We notice that Mr Jordan ha« moved into the shop m front or the Stand. rd office, which' position he finds much more central than his former one. We trust hia business will continue to increase and lourish.
