FOOTBALL.
[By Bird's The return match A to R v. S to Z, was to have been played on Saturday last, but m consequence of only five of the A to R contingent putting m an appearance, an agreement was made, after about five minutes' play, that the umpires, Messrs Pratt and CaverhiU,should pick sides on the ground. Sides were accordingly chosen, but it was noticed that from the very commencement of the game, Mr Pratt's men had every advantage, their passing and back play being really excellent. Mr Caverhill's sir?e fought well together, however, his forwards being always on the ball; but after about an hour. ; and a half's good play, they acknowledged themselves defeated. On Saturday 14th instant, at 3 p.m. it is intended to play the return match against Feilding, when it is hoped that every man will be m his place close np to time, The following are the teams:— Forwards : Snow, Paltridge, Belti', Hounslow, W t Moffalt Newman, J. uloffatt, Haultain, Stallard, and P. Smith. Quarter backs : F. H. Smith, and Salmon. Half backs : H. Smith, and Alabaster. Back : Symons. Emergency, Gr. Smith.
