A considerable advance en the up sec was offered. In one case there were ten applicants, and the successful tender gave 3s 6 d above the upset. Later. The second parpetual leasing trial was very successful. The tenders were opened to-day for a block of 4500 acres at Waikaia, and except tor one section, there was a good competition, the numbers of tenders running from two to ten. As much as 7s 6d per acre was obtained where the upset price wag 2s.
