A CLERICAL JOURNALIST.
(to the editor op the standard.) Kir, — The person who manages thac high class and respectable juuroal, The JVlanawatu Daily Times, has a very peculiar and gentlemanli ke (?) way of settling difficulties. Last night I made som>< remarks from the platform! con* cerning his paragraphs > on my iejture, an<i when I this morning came to his office to settle my account he (instead !of answering my words ) attempted to use physical force. However, he is as deficient m this as m paragraph-writing. In außwer to ra > question whether he would be willin to debate the subject of physiognomy with me from a plat* form m Wanganui, (all his expenses being paid), he said : "No, but I can use my fiat 1 " In my recent journey on 'he West Coast 1 heard some Btrange stories of a person over whose door was once written a certain appropriate and symbolical sentiment. £ have been wondering is*the erstwhile professor of religion the s»me individual who now seeks co distinguish himself as a fighting ' editor. Wrestling with the Devil should be a fit training for a clerical pugilist m his subsequent walks m life, — I am, &C, O. B. Huao.
