STATE OF AFFAIRS IN IRELAND.

An open air mass meeting- waa held at Hyde Park to-day with reference to the state of -affairs iu Ireland. Mr Parnell, M.-P. for Cork, w»s present, and addressed the meeting, commenting upon the present position of the country, and demanding that the Government should at once take steps to put a stop to the evictiou of tenants from their holdings, iu order to avert serious consequences that would result if such practices were permitted to cou* tiaue. ‘
At a meeting under the auspices of the Ladies’ Land League, at Tull'a today, Miss Parneli, in a speech which she made. on the occasion, counselled the people to adopt, measures to completely ostracise the police in Ireland.
News has been received from Ireland that a large number of people assembled to-day at Tramore, in the County Wateriovd, to attend a meeting called together by the League agitators. The authorities having leirned that a meeting was to. be held, had previously despatched a large force to the neighbourhood, and as soon as the people assembled the police arrived on the scene and dispersed the meeting. Some resistance was offered by the mob, bat no Berious disturbance occurred.
Government have the last few days had the position of affairs in Ireland under consideration. Several meetings of the Cabinet hare been held to discuss the matter, and it has transpired that it has been decided that the authorities in Ireland should maintain a very firm attitude, sad, '.adopt the strongest possible ms. .<«! w to suppress increasiug disor da,.

Numerous further arrest* of prominent agitators and suspected persons have been made during the past few days under the Coercion Act. Active steps are being taken by the authorities to stop all meetings called together by the Land League, A large nnmber of people Asembled yesterday at Mullingar-in the County of Westmonth, but the police were despatched to the scene. At Shrule, in the (Jollity Mayo, yesterday, a serious riot occurred between the po» lice and the peasantry, who had assempl din large numbers to prevent an ejectment. Severe fighting took #>lacc and several of the rioters were arrested. The mob, however, again attacked the police, and rescued the “prisoners after further conflict, News to hand from Cork is that roads in that district have been digtroy ad, and telegraph lines have been cut in several places. A large dstachmsnt of troops has accordingly been despatched to traverse the country and prevent further outrages.
