FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT. Nov. 5. A preliminary meeting was held at Dorreen’s H.otel, on Thursday evening, the 30 th ult., for the purpose of forming a Committee to obtain the necessary funds towards getting up the annual sports at Christmas and on New Year's Day. A large Committee was appointed, and the meeting was adjourned until the following Monday evening, at the All Nations Hotel. On Friday last an old man, in a very exhausted vwajs fpunclr on the Mahakipawu] Hill, iieqr Bfatyeoqk, by Mr Whea-'don,-who immediately came aud informed the police. Ready assistance was at once procured, and he was brought to th.e Police Station, where every care was taken of him until Monday, when he was-sent to the hospital at Pictoru. A work of some little importance has been just completed by Mr Herbert Gaby, of, Wellington, at Mr Tom Scott’s breweryA'No. 5 Ram has been fixed, which forces the water from a running stream to the top of the brewery, an elevation of 30 feet. This hydraulic contrivance will deliver over 1000 gallons of water per day at the height,mentioned.
