FESTIVITIES DRAW TO A CLOSE.

Christmas Cheer Week draws to a close. To-morrow the kiddies much-looked-forward to event — the visit of Father Christmas to town —will write finis to the festivities and it can safely be said that the committee responsible for the organisation are deserving of unstinted praise for the manner in which they have brightened up the town and created the festive spirit this year. The various attractions held during the week have been well patronised and appreciated by children and adults alike.

On Monday afternoon the chief attraction was the parade of decorated bicycles and trikes, and there were twenty-five competitors. Prizes were awarded as follows: Decorated Bicycle or Tricycle: 3 to 5 years: —ißuth Howe 1, E. Halidone 2.

Despite the rain a number of children were present in Main St. with pets to participate in the pets’ parade yesterday afternoon. Conditions were such, however, that the committee decided on a postponement of the attraction and if will now be held at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning.

Kiddies! Bring along your pefs to-morrow —no matter what description —everyone a prize-winner. THE BABY SHOW.

Arrangements were well in hand, at the time of going to press, for the baby show and indications were that there would be good entries. The show was .to t’alke place in the Triangle and if conditions were unsuitable the Foxton Racing Club had granted the use of their building for tile purpose.) GRAND FINALE" TO-MORROW. To-morrow witnesses the grand finale of the committee’s endeavours. Owing to the epidemic regu-' lations the free picture entertainment had to be cancelled but Father Christmas is scheduled to arrive at 3 p.m. sharp at Bauckham’s corner and the children are urged to be in/Clyde St. early. A free distribution of toys will be made and every child is invited' to join in the fun.’

ASSISTANTS WANTED. The committee would much appreciate offers of assistance in controlling the children to-morrow afternoon during the toy distribution by Father Christmas. The committee anticipates between 400 and 500 children will be in town—everyone is invited to be present —and anyone Avilling to assist is asked to be at Bauckham’s corner prior to 3 p.in. The children are asked to assemble in Clyde St. GREENERY ERECTEDI Mr -W. D. Neville and his assistants added the finishing touches to the decoration of Main St. yesterday, when, despite the 1 inclement weather, they commissioned a lorry and brought in loads of bush greenery with which they decorated the town adding a very pleasing touch to the main thoroughfare and completing the committee’s decorative scheme.
